English Abstract: A simple, solution-processed ultrathin CuOX anode buffer layer was fabricated for high performance organic solar cells (OSCs). XPS measurement demonstrated that the CuOX was the composite of CuO and Cu2O. The CuOX modified ITO glass exhibit a better surface contact with the active layer. The photovoltaic performance of the devices with CuOX layer was optimized by varying the thickness of CuOX films through changing solution concentration. With P3HT:PC61 BM as the active layer, we demonstrated an enhanced PCE of 4.14% with CuOX anode buffer layer, compared with that of PEDOT:PSS layer. The CuOX layer also exhibits efficient photovoltaic performance in devices with PBDITT-C:PC71 BM as the active layer. The long-term stability of CuOX device is better than that of PEDOT:PSS device. The results indicate that the easy solution-processed CuOX film can act as an efficient anode buffer layer for high-efficiency OSCs. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
